Lawn Irrigation System Contractor Maitland
A homeowner from Maitland called Lake Mary Sprinklers to say that their lawn sprinkler irrigation system would only operate during the hottest time of the day as opposed to early morning hours. It seems that someone had reprogrammed the controller at some point. This was a quick fix, but wasted water and stressed the lawn.
Maitland has a quiet, suburban feel located between Winter Park and Altamonte Springs, filled with lakes and parks. The Maitland Art Center and Enzian Theater provide an artsy flair. For keeping the beautiful lawns in these communities thriving, residents need to have functioning automatic irrigation systems. We have been repairing sprinklers in Maitland for many years.
Even though Maitland is just minutes away from downtown Orlando, it still has a more relaxed atmosphere. In addition to newer homes, Maitland also has mid-century style homes. Depending on where you reside, the soil will be varied. As such, your residential irrigation system should be designed to fit your property.
The weather conditions can greatly affect the operation of an automatic sprinkler system. The hot summer months, frequent thunderstorms and high humidity in addition to the mature tree root system in Maitland can wreak havoc on the underground piping system of automatic sprinkler systems.
Common Irrigation Repair Problems in Maitland
Most service calls regarding irrigation systems are due to systems that won’t operate or won’t shut off.
Dead controllers – Lightning strikes and electrical surges can cause death to irrigation timers. Occasionally it is only necessary to replace the transformer, while other times it is required to replace the entire digital sprinkler controller.
Broken pipes – Tree roots, settlement of the land, and old cracked PVC pipe underground are causes of broken pipes.
Valve issues – Solenoid valves are located throughout residential irrigation systems, and when one fails, the particular zone may not function properly or may not shut off.
Spray head issues – Spray heads are damaged by lawn mowers and wear out over time. If a spray head does not function properly, then the portion of the lawn that the spray head serves will not receive water. Nozzles often clog.
Rotor head issues – Leaking rotors and ones not turning are problems we see everyday.
Our Maitland Sprinkler System Repair Services
In some cases, we can repair your residential sprinkler system on the same day.
Complete Irrigation Repair
First, we test the entire irrigation system. Then we check the controller, run each zone, and look for leaks.
Valve Location
Locating buried valves is our specialty. We use special equipment to find solenoid valves whether the valve box is buried or not.
Smart Controllers
Eventually, the irrigation controller will fail. We install WiFi irrigation controllers that allow you to monitor and control your irrigation system using your cell phone. These smart irrigation controllers will automatically adjust to changes in weather conditions.
Pipe Repair
While pipe damage is unsightly, it is often easy to repair. To repair a damaged pipe, we dig down, remove the damaged section of pipe and install new PVC pipe.
Sprinkler Head Service
We repair and adjust spray heads. A routine sprinkler tune-up includes inspecting all spray nozzles.
Lawn Sprinkler Maintenance
Proper maintenance will save you money. We perform regular inspections to catch potential problems before they occur.
Irrigation Design
Whether you are building or redesigning landscaping, we design irrigation systems for residential properties in Maitland. We also design drip irrigation systems.
Water Conservation
Since Maitland has water restrictions, installing a smart irrigation controller will assist in adhering to the rules.
Backflow Prevention
Unless you use reclaim water, annual testing and/or repair of backflow prevention devices are required in Maitland even for pump systems. We are certified to test and repair backflow prevention devices.
Emergency Repair
We respond to emergency calls to address systems that will not shut off anywhere in Maitland.

Mature Tree Canopy and Root Intrusion: The Hidden Irrigation Challenge in Maitland
Maitland is one of the most visually distinctive communities in Central Florida, in large part because of its exceptional tree canopy. The city holds a Tree City USA designation and has a long history of prioritizing its urban forest. For residents, the mature oaks, magnolias, and other large-canopy trees that line Maitland’s streets and fill its yards are a defining quality-of-life feature. They are also, from an irrigation perspective, an increasingly relevant source of system damage and performance problems that deserve more attention than they typically receive. The root systems of large, established trees are aggressive and far-reaching. Live oak roots, in particular, can extend two to three times the diameter of the tree’s canopy in search of water and nutrients. For an irrigation system installed fifteen or twenty years ago — when a tree was young and its root system was relatively contained — those roots may now be pressing against, growing around, or penetrating through PVC irrigation pipes that were routed through what was then open soil. Root intrusion into irrigation lines is a slow process, but once a root finds a small crack or a joint that has loosened with age, it will infiltrate the pipe and grow inside it, eventually causing blockage, bursting, or both.
Symptoms of root intrusion in an irrigation line are easy to confuse with other problems: a zone that seems to have low pressure, a soggy area of lawn that doesn’t correspond to any visible head or valve, or a water bill that has increased without any obvious cause. In older Maitland properties with mature trees, root intrusion should be on the list of diagnostic possibilities any time a zone is underperforming or a leak is suspected below grade.
Beyond physical pipe damage, Maitland’s dense canopy creates a separate irrigation challenge that affects system performance without any component failure at all: shade zone irrigation mismatch. Irrigation systems designed for open turf delivery water at rates and arc patterns calibrated for full-sun conditions. As trees have grown and canopy cover has expanded over the years, significant portions of many Maitland yards that were once full sun are now in partial or full shade. Turf in shaded areas requires considerably less water than turf in full sun, and watering a shaded zone at the same rate as a sun-exposed zone promotes the exact conditions — consistently moist, low-light soil — that lead to fungal disease and turf decline.
The solution is a combination of zone reconfiguration to separate shaded areas from sun-exposed areas on independent valves, head adjustment to reduce throw and arc in canopy- covered zones, and potentially the conversion of deeply shaded beds to drip or micro-spray emitters at significantly lower application rates. For pipes that are showing signs of root pressure or past root intrusion, targeted excavation and section replacement is typically more practical than attempting to route around the affected area, given the density of root networks in Maitland’s mature landscapes.
If your property is in an established Maitland neighborhood with large trees and your irrigation system has never been specifically assessed for root proximity, shade coverage changes, or canopy interference, a current evaluation is worth scheduling — particularly before investing in new sod or landscaping that depends on a system that may be delivering water inconsistently relative to what your landscape actually needs.
Why Your Maitland Irrigation Contractor Matters
It is essential to hire an experienced professional to repair your irrigation system. We understand the types of problems that commonly occur in Maitland.
Seasonal Challenges
There are different challenges associated with each season when it comes to automatic sprinkler systems.
Landscaping Water Management
Run the irrigation system early in the morning. Do not irrigate daily. Walk around the perimeter of your lawn once per month while the irrigation system is operating. Adjust the irrigation timer according to seasonal changes.
Quality Home Lawn Irrigation
An excellent automatic lawn sprinkler system is comprised of sufficient zones. The irrigation controller should be easily accessible. High-quality components will last longer.
